The forecast may have threatened rain all day but we lucked out with stunning weather for Nick and Devin's photos. The interior of the chapel was stunning as well and I couldn't help but go a little traditional with that stained glass and Devin's timeless dress.
Here's a sneak peek of the photos we captured!
Ceremony:Memorial Chapel in Akron, OH
Reception:La Pizzaria in Canton, OH
I recently had the opportunity to capture photos of these sweet newborn twins, a first for me! Working with two was a little bit of a challenge but we were patient and got some great photos of these two.
In addition to having two newborns on our hands, these guys were preemies which means we had to wait for them to get home and settled before our photo session, and their startle reflex was pretty well developed...so the sound of my camera shutter was a little shocking to sensitive sleeping babies. That equates to resetting poses quite a few times! With enough soft heat blowing on them we finally lulled them into a nice slumber so we could work with them.
I was honored to capture the first official photos of this brother and sister and we look forward to seeing these two grow up together.
We could not have been more lucky to have a 75 degree day in February (in OHIO no less!) to shoot these portraits!
I've been putting together some props and items to do a Moonrise Kingdom inspired Mini Session this Spring so this was a perfect opportunity to give things a test run. Since we had been planning to shoot in the studio this was a nice surprise to get out in the fresh air. Shooting with these vintage items added some real whimsy and adventure, we are looking forward to adding more styled shoots to our line up.
We'll be announcing dates and location for booking this mini once the weather starts to warm up, so stay tuned for that.
This shoot will be perfect for boys or girls, sibling groups and even Mom and Dad!
This Fall gave us a lot of great days of incredible color and we took full advantage of that for Hannah's Senior Session. In just a couple short hours we were able to put together lots of great looks and have some fun doing it. We specialize in taking editorial style portraits and that capture our subject's natural spirit and beauty without relying too much fake retouching and heavy filter effects. Traditional studio portraits are available as well but we'll never have you looking like a piece of plastic!
Though fall has come and gone, we can get great photos in any season. Spring is around the corner so we are open for last minute 2017 Seniors and 2018 Early Birds!
As the weather warms up and we start to move into wedding season, I find myself at the table with clients who are trying to select what they need for their photography services for their big day. In today's world of digital everything, many clients are focused on obtaining the rights to the files. This is a wonderful thing to have and we are glad to offer it. With social media sharing, personal web sites and blogs and unprecedented access to photo printing options it can be wonderful to have all those images delivered on a USB drive.
But what then? So often I hear from clients who are returning to us for family portraits, newborn photos, that say to me...Wow, I really need to do something with my photos! I meant to make an album but never got around to it!
While there are many, many consumer grade albums on the market there still is no substitute for a professionally designed and professionally printed and bound wedding album. An archival piece of family history to share with kids, grandkids, family and friends. The tactile experience of holding the photos in your hand, presented in a light that your photographer has envisioned really brings the experience full circle in a way scrolling through image on an i-pad does not.
I am reminded of this every time a client album arrives from the lab and I get to open it for the first time and see the photos in this way. Even though I have seen these images many, many times during the process of shooting, editing, designing...it is still a thrill each time I see the completed project in print.
Just food for thought when you are booking your photography, if you can swing that package with an album...DO IT! And if you need to do it later on down the road, don't forget that the one year anniversary gift is PAPER! So I think an album would certainly qualify.
Technology changes, digital media can degrade or corrupt but a high quality archival print can last for centuries. No matter what, get at least a few photos printed at a real photo lab! You'll be glad you did.
I have included some images of a recent client album, this is an example of out most popular book, a leather bound 12 x 12 album.
